Class Dojo

We use class dojo. This enables teachers to share examples of learning with you weekly and also to update you with key messages. A child's education is enhanced when school and home work in partnership. We greatly appreciate and value your support and what you to feel involved in your child's learning.

EYFS: Nursery and Reception

‘Play is the highest form of research.’ Albert Einstein ‘Scientists have discovered that it takes 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain, unless it is done in play, in which case it only takes 10 to 20 repetitions.’ Dr Karyn Purvis

Our movement-based pedagogy is at the forefront of everything we do in Early Years and aims to support the physical and intellectual development of each child. Our Plan and Do approach to play and well thought out environment promote independence, enables the
repeated practise of key movement skills and the development of communication and language skills.

Our indoor and vast outdoor environments are of equal importance where children can build, dig, perform, sing, create, role play, imagine, negotiate, draw, write, count, be physical, experiment and take risks. During plan and do time, adults mindfully interact with children to enhance the learning taking place.

The knowledge and skills taught are progressive but also allow for repeated practise. Our curriculum has broad themes for each term which reflect the children’s immediate environment, the local community, the wider world and the natural environment.

An overview of these themes and content is shown on our curriculum page.

Organisation

How we organise Teaching and Learning at Goxhill Primary School

  • We offer nursery provision for two year olds and three year olds. These fully funded places are flexible and we do our best to accomodate all requests to ensure that our children have the best start whilst meeting the individual needs and circumstances of our families.
  • EYFS (Nursery and Reception) are taught separately but come together at lunchtimes and for some specific activities.
  • Years 1-6 are one form entry year groups, each taught as individual classes.
  • Breakfast and After School Club is available to support families with wraparound childcare (enquire via the school office 01469 530743/ admin.goxhillprimary@northlincs.gov.uk)
