Mini First Aid
The children took part in mini first aid. These are important skills to learn that will help to keep the children safe within the school community, home and when playing and interacting outside of school within the local community and Goxhill. The children were very grown up and sensible during these workshops and we were extremely proud of the way they engaged in the first aid activities.
With Me in Mind (WMIM) Wellbeing and Self Care
Year 5 enjoyed a helpful and informative session with Louisa from ‘With Me In Mind’, who helped us to understand more about our mental and physical health. She gave us some great tips to help us look after our own wellbeing too.
The children will be bringing home their WMIM Wellbeing and Self-Care booklet; please take the time to discuss it with them.
Reception Children Visit the Local Community Library
We want to develop connections between the school and the local community. Our children visit the library weekly (one class at a time each week throughout every half term). This is to support the development of a love of reading and also to pormote the local community adn help our children to build relationships with community members who help us. Exploring the village is part of the children knowing our local area, incporporated through both the geography and history curriculum.
Celebrating our local history - Year 6 Fishing Heritage Centre Trip
The year 6 children had a fun-filled day exploring the Fishing Heritage Centre. This linked to their hsitory unit on Lillian Bilocca and the Headscarf Revolutionaries from Hull. We think it is important to teach the children about the historical local heritage and how changes in the past affect their lives in the present. The children represented the school extremely well and Mrs Martin and Mrs Plant were extremely proud of them.
Our school community helpers
We are very proudof our children who run the lunch hall on a rota and help on the door calling the children into the hall for lunch each day and helping the ladies in the kitchen to ensure that everybody receives the correct lunch. These children give up their own time to give something back to the school community. They organise and they lead and even devise their own rotas. Mrs Brace is very grateful for the contribution that they make to the dining hall.
Easter Service at Church
With the help and support of Sandra, the year 6 children led the Easter service at church today. They learnt their lines and spoke clearly and confidently and we could not have been proud of them. One child stepped up last minute and was excellent! Such amazing teamwork!!
Mrs Redfearn and the staff have helped the children to learn the songs through weekly hymn singing sessions and the singing today was wonderful and truly uplifting. All of the children represented the school extremely well and received lots of praise for their efforts. A lovely service was had by all and it was great to see the parents/ carers joining in who came along.

Annual Careers Fayre
Through our annual Careers Fayre, we build many connections with local businesses who work with us to engage our children in the world of work and help them to make purposeful links between their curriculum subjects and life beyond school. This raises aspiration and provides an opportunity to inspire our children. It is a lovely event and parents/ carers attend alongside their children to explore the interactive stalls, showcasing a wide range of careers.
Adopters of Goxhill Station
We support the local train station in Goxhill as 'Station Adopters'. We maintain the flower beds, have participated in a competition to have our artwork publsihed on the station platform and we use the train for trips and visits. Our current year 4 children were lucky enough to visit the Victorian station box.
Ganders Displayed in Chapel
The school writes a termly article for the Goxhill Gander. This helps to promote the school within the locla community. Our children created Ganders to be displayed in the Methodist Chapel to support local community events.
Our School Graden: Designed and Developed by our children in collaboration with the Nettletons
We opened for Open Gradens in Summer 2025 to share our garden with the Community.
